100 East from 300 South to Uranium is closed as crews finish preparation
for road resurfacing. Grand Avenue access to the middle school is closed for now, but will be open whenever the 100 East paving phase allows.
To access Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School, use Uranium Ave. to the school parking lot. Drivers can exit via Grand Avenue when access across 100 East is open, or loop back through the parking lot to exit onto Uranium. School bus drop-off will be near the tennis courts as usual.
For students walking to school, a temporary route has been created east of the Bark Park leading from 300 South to the middle school property.

Uranium is paved and will reopen after concrete work in some areas is completed. Uranium is expected to reopen Aug. 8 or early in the week of Aug.

100 East access is closed completely except for access to Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School via Grand Avenue, crossing 100 East. That access will change when Uranium is reopened and paving on 100 East begins.
Access to the middle school for student drop-offs will be via Uranium and across to the school parking lot as normal, exiting via Grand Avenue. When Grand Avenue access is closed at 100 East for construction, drivers dropping students off will loop back through the parking lot to exit onto Uranium. The school bus drop-off will be near the tennis courts as usual.

The installation of curb and gutter along Uranium Avenue has been completed. In preparation for paving, roadbase installation is nearly finished along Uranium Avenue. The water main along 100 East has been installed and will undergo water quality testing soon.

The removal of the existing concrete, asphalt, and subgrade will commence along 100 East, north of Grand Avenue. The installation of electrical conduit will be completed along Uranium Avenue and will subsequently begin along 100 East.

Construction began on the Uranium Ave./100 East Road Improvement project on Tuesday, June 17.
Phase 1

Project Description
The scope of the 100 East & Uranium Avenue project includes full-depth roadway reconstruction, street lighting, utility upgrades, and landscaping. Final improvements may include:
Additional enhancements include the widening of the shared use path along the eastern side of 100 East, and the construction of a new shared use path along the northern side of Uranium Avenue. Parallel parking stalls will also be added on the eastern side of 100 East.
The contractor will take measures to minimize dust and noise during construction. However, for the duration of the roadway reconstruction, it is recommended that City Market be accessed via Highway 191 / South Main Street or Grand Avenue.
Barring unforeseen delays, the 100 East & Uranium Avenue reconstruction is expected to be completed before the start of the 2025–2026 school year.
